    Terms of Use

    Last updated: July 2026

By using this platform, you agree to these terms.

    1. Intended Use

This platform provides machine learning-based tools for intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation. It is intended exclusively for use by qualified ophthalmic professionals (ophthalmologists, optometrists, or equivalent).

    2. Clinical Decision Support Only

All calculations are provided as clinical decision support tools. They do NOT constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. The healthcare professional retains full responsibility for all clinical decisions. Results should always be cross-referenced with other available IOL calculation methods.

    3. No Warranty

This platform is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Machine learning models have inherent limitations and may not be suitable for all cases.

    4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the creators of this platform shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from its use, including but not limited to clinical outcomes.

    5. Scientific and Research Purpose

This platform represents ongoing scientific research in applying machine learning to IOL calculation. It is provided free of charge for educational and clinical support purposes.

    6. Regulatory Status

This tool has not been approved or cleared by regulatory agencies (FDA, ANVISA, CE marking, etc.) as a medical device. Use is at the professional's discretion.

    7. Data Processing and LGPD Compliance

By using this platform, you acknowledge that: (a) biometric measurements submitted to the public calculators are processed in real time and not stored; (b) if you opt in to the Surgeon Area (“My Surgical Cases”), anonymized clinical data — biometry, clinical class, IOL and calculation snapshot, post-operative outcomes, sex and age band — is stored linked to your professional account and may be used to improve the platform's calculation models, as described in the Privacy Policy; (c) patient-identifying information (name, date of birth, record number) is processed and stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to our servers; (d) only your account email is collected for authentication. For full details, see our Privacy Policy. This platform complies with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018).

    8. Surgeon Area — Professional Responsibilities

The Surgeon Area is a record-keeping aid, not a medical record system. You remain responsible for maintaining your patients' official medical records under applicable law and professional regulations. You must not enter patient-identifying information in free-text fields (e.g., case notes). The encrypted local vault holding patient identity exists only on your device: you are responsible for your device's security and for the encrypted backup file, and MiOLO.AI cannot recover patient identity if the vault or its passphrase is lost.

    9. Intellectual Property

The MiOLO.AI algorithms, formulas, coefficients, and associated intellectual property are proprietary and protected. Reverse engineering, decompilation, or unauthorized reproduction of the calculation methods is strictly prohibited.

    10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

    11. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any disputes shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of São Paulo, SP, Brazil.
